Greetings, friends! (or non-friends for those stalkers out there)
So I’ve been able to observe many things about the culture here in Tokyo. (I’d say Japan, but Tokyo is different than the rest of the country so yeah).
This is just part 1 of my observations blogs.. I’m sure there will be MANY.
Let’s talk about Japanese girls walking in heels. At first my thoughts were, “aw that’s so cute, they’re trying to walk in heels.” I honored them, but pitied them at the same time. I wish I could take video, maybe one day I will, but that’s kind of aawwkward. (I found the above picture on the internet). Ok granted, I’m not the best chick to talk about walking in heels, but I can seriously say that I walk better in heels. Ain’t THAT something?! So the other day, I brought it up to my co-worker, and he said that he heard Japanese girls walk with turned in feet, because “it’s pretty.” That’s what some of the Japanese staff at work told him. I asked him if he thought it was pretty, and he says, *with a British accent* “No, I don’t, actually. How could anyone think that’s pretty? I just don’t understand.” Maybe one day I’ll try walking like that… haha ok yeah I totally won’t.
So… the Japanese are super clever. They come up with all these things that just make so much sense. It makes me think, “Hey why don’t we have this back home?!” For example, on all down comforters, there are loop holes at every corner and in the middle of the length side. On the duvet covers, there is a tie at every corner and in the middle of the length side. (Okay for all those slow people out there, you tie the duvet cover to the down comforter). And the comforter does NOT move! How amazing! That’s one thing that pissed me off with my comforter at home. I always had to fluff it so that it would spread out after a few days of using it, over and over again. (Okay maybe America does have this, but I have not had the luxrury of this?!) Okay.. and heated toilet seats?! You might be thinking, “uhhh ouch?! doesn’t that burn?!” No, you moron. The temperature is JUST right and it’s verrrryyyy comforting. haha I just suggest you to try it out before you judge. You’ll want one of your own, I tell you! I wonder if Home Depot or Lowes sells heated toilet seats? Someone go check it out, and tell me. If so, I am SO buying one when I get back to America.
So it’s Friday, but it feels like a Wednesday for me. Why? Because I work Thursday to Sunday. And I’m off Monday to Wednesday. What do I do on my days off? Well, nothing that glamorous thus far. I have a whole 2 friends. (Hi Martin and Paulo!) Plus, I’m waiting another few weeks to get paid.
How’s teaching, you ask?! It’s going pretty well so far. Feedback from students has been fairly decent for being a new instructor. Hooray!
Tomorrow I have SFC HH! Yayyyy!!! I’m hosting! So I’m cooking. I’m excited to worship! Pray for me though because I’ll be playing! EEEEEEK.
I must go over my lesson plans for tomorroooowww. Thanks for coming!
God bless your day =)
P.S. Send me stuff! i.e. FOOD, postcards, love letters.. whatever you like =D
