I was going through iPhoto and I found videos from the March For Life last year. I completely forgot about the song that Matt Maher sang during Communion (or maybe it was another part of Mass). Reflecting on what I read in Imitation of Mary today and then hearing this song, it just affirmed how faithful God is… despite our doubts, despite our unworthiness. I mean, I know this. You know this. But… there is just something so refreshing and new about our Lord, that regardless of what we know, it’s like learning all over again. (Can I get an Amen?!?! haha)
“Jesus answered Mary in a way that gave no grounds for hope, yet she did not cease to hope, and she therefore obtained what she wanted. Rarely shall we pray with perseverance and not be heard. Importunity displeases men and wearies them, but if you do not grow weary of praying to the Lord, He will not grow weary of hearing you. No matter how fervent your prayer is, God seems to say to you, as He did to Mary, ‘your hour has not yet come.’ (Jn. 2-4). But if your confidence is truly unshakeable, God will finally grant your request. We only make ourselves unworthy of the Divine generosity when we decide to put a time limit He must meet. It is true, of course, that despite our repeated prayer God sometimes does not give us what we ask of Him. But in such instances He gives us something we need far more than what we asked.”
We are not called to understand. We are not called to be in the spotlight. We are not called to be the most popular. We are not called to be the most beautiful nor the most talented. But that’s not what God wants. The ONLY thing, the absolutely only thing, that we are called to do, is to give our yes. With our yes, we give our hearts. We give our lives. We give up our dreams. We give up what we want…. all for the sake of what He wants. And CRAZY enough, if we continue to pray for what we want, and there is nothing better that the Lord wants for us, God grants our prayer. How faithful is our God. How GREAT is our Lord. Man… ! hehe
Lord, I love You. I adore You. You are so beautiful that all the words in the world cannot describe just how beautiful You are. You are so good, Lord, SO good. Thank You for being so faithful, to me, to my sisters, to my loved ones. Thank You for answered prayers. Thank You for calling me to be Your servant. I give my YES, Lord. All I want is to make You happy.
Whatever You want from me, whatever You wish me to do…
I will let it be. Let it be done unto me.
(Matt Maher sings it better, in my personal opinion. But he didn’t record the song. Boo)
When she heard the voice of God
calling her to be
the instrument He needed
to bring our world the King of Kings,
she could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still she answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
When he heard the voice of God
calling him to stand
and take the virgin as his wife
and teach her child to be a man,
he could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still he answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
And they said, “Yes, Lord, we’re ready to receive.
Yes, Lord, we’re ready to believe.
Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
If I hear the voice of God
calling out my name,
Lord, I pray You’ll give me faith
to answer You in anything.
And i may not understand
the wisdom of Your plan, but I will answer,
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
Yes, Lord, I’m ready to receive.
Yes, Lord, I’m ready to believe.
Let it be. Let it be done unto me.
